 Lesson Plan

In this lesson, students will gain knowledge about the foundational history of Hiphop. This lesson invites students to learn about the culture and the artists responsible for creating the four elements and the principles of the culture, as well as some of the other important components of the culture like the musical influences and the social justice aspects.

Oriana Lee

Oriana Lee identifies as an interdisciplinary artist and educator of African descent, currently living in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Brought up in the Southern United States (TN), Lee’s artistic lens is primarily one representing Southern American Blackness, and often fused with aspects of traditional African culture through patterns, symbols, and storytelling.

Having worked and created primarily as an MC, writer/poet, and performer for the past three decades, Hiphop is the culture that Lee lives and breathes. For the past 20 years, Lee has been on the leading edge of the home-education movement and has organized educational support groups, and developed curriculum across a diverse range of subject areas and ability levels.

In addition to being a Wellbeing Coach, Lee is the co-executive director of a circus organization.
